New-Babylonian Carnelian stone Conoid Stamp Seal ( With Two Faces seals)!!!
Date: 7th/6th Century BC.
The seal shows a man in front of an altar or podium.
On the podium are objects, one of which is distinguishable as a spade, the spade is a representation of Marduk, the stylus, a representation of Nabu.
Nabu is a Mesopotamian scribe god: a patron of writing. He is also a god of wisdom. The owner of the seal probably identified Nabu as a personal divine patron. And the Crescent of the moon-god Sin.
The other face shows Gula (the Assyrian goddess of healing and the dog (her sacred animal) it was believed that if you neglected or harmed your dog then that would incur the goddess’ wrath.
and (object in the sky)!!! the object was meant to be a star, a commonly used reference to Ishtar. The Carver in this case hadn’t finished the piece.
